What Is Magnolol?
Magnolol is a bioactive compound isolated from the bark of Magnolia officinalis or Magnolia grandiflora, belonging to the lignan family of organic compounds. It has been used in traditional Asian medicine to treat anxiety, sleep disorders, and allergic diseases. It also exhibits antifungal activity, anti-periodontal disease activity, and various osteoblast-stimulating and osteoclast-inhibiting activities.

Magnolol In Skin Care
Research indicates that changes in facial morphology with age are primarily associated with three factors: reduced subcutaneous fat, skeletal atrophy, and skin tissue displacement. Beneath the skin lies an important layer of fat tissue (sWAT), which not only stores energy but also secretes various substances that maintain skin health. However, as we age, the body's ability to produce new fat cells diminishes, and the regenerative and transformative functions of preadipocytes (fat stem cells) also weaken.
Additionally, there is a special layer of fat (dWAT) in the deeper layers of the skin, primarily distributed around the roots of hair follicles. This fat undergoes significant changes when exposed to excessive sunlight, not only shrinking in volume but also being replaced by fibrous tissue, leading to scar-like alterations. Therefore, scientists believe that protecting dWAT may represent a new direction in combating skin aging.
Magnolol is a natural polyphenol component extracted from magnolia bark. Experimental results show that it can induce preadipocytes in mice to differentiate into fat cells, thereby exerting a skin-plumping effect.
Magnolia officinalis has remarkable anti-aging properties in cosmetics, particularly for skin aging caused by chronic inflammation. It contains abundant magnolol (magnolol) and magnolol, which can achieve anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the activation of IKK enzymes caused by free radicals, thereby preventing the activation of NF-κB inflammatory factors.
